Here's my Youtube Videos from Blessing of the Animals

Here I am in three videos at the Blessing of the Animals on St. Francis Day, Oct. 4, 2010. I had a great time making friends with a bunch of other dogs, even the ones who were Green Bay fans.

Does your dog give call outs?

When a radio personality mentions a person's name on the air, it's called a call out. When we're listening to WJJQ from Tomahawk, from streaming audio or when we're on vacation, Mark Everett on weekday mornings gives call outs to announce people's birthdays or special occasions when relatives or friends call in and ask him to do so.

Then there's a street musician on the bridge over the Chicago River right near the commuter station who gives call outs. As he plays the drums and sings, he'll see someone who looks like a basketball player or some other celebrity, and he'll say the name of the celebrity.

I bet you didn't know Rascal also gives call outs. They aren't very loud, but they're there. Before I caught on, I wondered why she whined or whimpered sometimes as she walked down the street. I thought maybe she'd stepped on something or hurt herself in some way. Then I figured it out. She only does this in front of houses where people she loves live, like in front of my brother's house, where also my nephew visits, or the neighbor who likes to pet her that lives down the block from us.

I never had a dog that did this before. What about you? Do you have a dog that gives call outs?

Doggyspace

Rascal's a member of Doggyspace. It's a great place to hear about the lives of all kinds of dogs and their owners. One of the nice things about it is I receive updates from Doggyspace with links to click. Today was particularly sad since Apollo, one of the members, went to the Rainbow Bridge.

I didn't even know the dog, but as I read the account, I couldn't help crying. if you've ever owned a dog, you'll understand what I mean.

Usually, there are lots of upbeat stories with fun things happening. Anyway, Rascal's link at Doggyspace is http://www.doggyspace.com/accounts/eProfile?id=15418, in case you'd like to check it out.

Sleeping It Off

To the left - Rascal's in one of her favorite sleeping spots - On her comforters in back of the easy chair in the spare bedroom downstairs.

Rascal slept good last night and had a hard time getting up this morning. I think she was still worn out from all the excitement of the day before. On Saturday, we parked the car downtown and walked to Bentley's Corner Barkery, where she visited with her good buddies, the owners, Giovanni and Lisa.

After that, we walked to the library so the DH could pick up some DVDs on reserve. Rascal hasn't had a chance to walk around much, what with all the snow around, but the sidewalks were clear in that area. I think we enjoyed the outing as much as she did. (Don't worry, Rascal didn't go inside. I waited with her in the foyer.)

Anyway, afterwards, another surprise awaited Rascal. Our nephew, whom she loves dearly, came by so he could go with the DH to see a wrestling match.

All in all, Rascal was happy and tired.

The Buddy Foundation Has Some Great Dogs for Adoption, Including Squiggy

We adopted Rascal from Chicagoland Dog Rescue, but there are many great organizations where you can adopt dogs. Last weekend The Buddy Foundation held an adoption day at Bentley's Corner Barkery in Arlington Heights, IL. To the left is one of our favorites. His name is Squiggy. Too bad we can't afford another dog, time or money wise. We're hoping someone gives a home to him very soon.

If you'd like to come over and see Squiggy, you can find him at The Buddy Foundation, 65 W. Seegers Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60005; Phone: 847-290-5806.

Thursday night, February 25, 2010, the Buddy Foundation is celebrating its 15th Birthday at Moretti's, formerly Freddies Roadhouse,  from 5-8pm, 1799 S. Busse Rd., Mt. Prospect, IL.

A donation of $35.00 includes a buffet, 3 drink tickets, plus a chance to enter a raffle or bid in an auction. It's a great cause. The DH and I plan to be there to support such a wonderful organizaiton.

Check out the entire lineup on the video below. Maybe you'd like one of the others, if not Squiggy.
